Designers worth knowing, before everyone else knows them

Fashion Tastemakers began in San Antonio in 2021, when Mayra Farret became regional director of Fashion Group International. Listening to the city and its clients, she saw that fresh designers and distinctive points of view were missing locally.

So she started bringing talent from different parts of the world to San Antonio, first by introducing international designers to the market, and then by turning that vision into an online platform and a boutique.

A tastemaker discovers. The name reflects our aim to bring designers to San Antonio before they arrive on large global platforms such as Moda Operandi, Mytheresa, or Net-a-Porter.

The word Fashion makes the promise plain from the first moment: this is a place devoted to fashion.

Mayra graduated with honors in Finance from Tecnológico de Monterrey. She always wanted to study design and art history, but began her career in strategic planning and finance at Fortune 500 companies, including The Home Depot and British American Tobacco in Mexico.

The world of retail deepened her interest in merchandising, and she went on to own two Learning Express Toys stores in San Antonio. Fashion Tastemakers brings together her lifelong passion for design and her business experience.

Mayra travels to meet designers and see their collections in person. She has attended Copenhagen Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Week, and visits showrooms in New York.

Each selection considers the designer's identity, the quality of the work, and its fit with her clients. One early example: she introduced SUD Colombia to San Antonio before the brand appeared on Moda Operandi, Revolve, and Farfetch.

Beyond shopping online and in the boutique, Fashion Tastemakers offers styling appointments, private shopping, and personal attention. We also host presentations, trunk shows, and experiences with designers.

Mayra has collaborated with organizations including CASA, Make-A-Wish, The DoSeum, the Witte Museum, and the McNay Art Museum. Our boutique opens in Alamo Heights on November 15, 2026, an intimate, carefully curated space for styling, private shopping, and meetings with designers.
